How to use pronouns?
Pronouns replace the noun. A pronoun can be used as the subject of the sentence or the object of the sentence. Most of the time a pronoun refers to something already mentioned or understood by the listener or reader.
The different kinds of pronouns are:
- Personal Pronouns - are pronouns that refers to the person or thing preforming the action
- You are going to the store.
- They are going to sleep.
- Indefinite Pronouns - are pronouns that refers to non-specific beings, objects, or places
- Everyone is going on the trip.
- Is someone going to help me clean the house?
- Demonstrative Pronouns - refer to specific things, people or beings
- That is a nice car.
- This is my coat.
Relative_Pronouns are used to introduce relative clauses
- The man who works with me, does not live near me.
- I do not know the owner of the company, whom I never met.
- Possessive Pronouns - are used to refer possession os something or someone
- My car is not working. Can I use your car for a few hours.
- That blue car is not ours. We have a green car.
- Reflexive Pronouns - are pronouns used when the sentence has the same subject and object
- I baked the cake myself.
- We fixed the car ourselves.
- Reciprocal Pronouns - is used when both subjects are the subject and the object of the sentence
- They live near each other.
- We always help one other.
- Relative pronouns - are used to introduce relative clauses.
- The building that I live i is very old
- The man who lives next door is very kind.
- Interrogative Pronouns - are used to ask a question
- Who is going to the store?
- What are you doing?
