"so what" – means it is not important; don't care; not a big deal: is a rude statement
"so what" can be used as an insult, or a way of saying "I don't really care " or "I really am not interested "
- Tina: My mother won't like me staying out all night.
Kevin: So what? I don't care what your mother likes! - Tina: I am going to come home late tonight.
Kevin: So what? I am working late too. - Tina: My teacher is going on vacation for a few weeks.
Kevin: So what? You will have a different teacher for a few weeks. - Tina: I am so tired of this car!!!
Kevin: So what? You are lucky to have a job.
