Positive Sentences

Subject + Auxiliary Verb + Main Verb + _________.

Grammar Rules:

  • Auxiliary Verb - the verb "to be" changes according to the sentence's subject.
  • Main Verb - -ing is added to the end of the base verb.
    • "to be" changes according to the sentence's subject.

1st Person I was walking to work.
2st Person Mary & I were cooking dinner.
3st Person Singular My boss was working on the project.

Negative Sentences

Subject + Auxiliary Verb + Not + Main Verb + _________.

Grammar Rules:

  • Auxiliary Verb - the past tense of the verb "to be" (was/were) are used.
  • "Not" - is added after the auxiliary verb "to be".
  • Main Verb - -ing is added to the end of the base verb.
