Off - to remove something from the surface.

  • Get off the sofa please.
  • I need to get off the bus.
  • The girls are going to take the books off the table.
  • I need to pick up the stuff off the floor.

Out - to move something or someone from inside to the outside

  • We have to go out to the store.
  • They want to go out of the house.
  • We will take the food out of the oven.
  • The girls will take the food out of the bags.

Tip: If you can say something or someone is “in” something, then you can use “out”.
