Must & Can't


Can't – is used when you think or feel something is not possible to do

  • My sister can't fail her exams. She is studying so hard.
  • I can't buy a new car. I do not have money.
  • My laptop can't be broken again. I just had it fixed.
  • My brother can't pay his bills. He is not working.
  • I can't come to see you next week. I will be very busy all week.

Must – is used when something is for sure or mandatory/no choice

  • I must go to work
  • We must pay the rent.
  • My sister must be tired, because she worked 16 hours today.
  • We must be at the train station in 2 hours.
  • I spend a lot of money fixing the car. The car must be working now.
  • My boss must be happy, because he just go a new car.
