Types of Adverbs

There are 5 basic types of adverbs.

Adverbs of Time - is used to state "when" something happened

  • We went to the store yesterday.
  • I am going to the city next week.

Adverb of Frequency - is used to state "when" something happened

  • My boss goes to the city once a week.
  • I rarely miss work.

Adverbs of Manner - is used to state "how" something happened

  • We work quickly.
  • I read slowly.

Adverbs of Degree - is used to state "how much?" or "to what degree/extent" something happened

  • It was extremely hot outside.
  • We have too many bills.

Adverbs of Place - is used to state "where" something happened

  • My car is outside.
  • We going back home.
