How To Deal With High Pressured Salespeople
Most of us hate the kind of salespeople that don't leave you alone, they stick to you like glue and don't stop talking until you finally agree to buy something just to shut them up.
One of the best things that you can do is to take control of the situation, and just let them know that you will ask for help if you need any help, and if they don't leave you alone then try repeating yourself "I/we will ask you if we have any questions", and then just ignoring them. If they still "harass" then think about leaving the store, find someone that is respectful.
Here are some tips on how to deal with high pressured salespeople:
Personal Police - Don't buy anything sign anything or give any kind of personal information to any sales people then first time you meet them. Make it a policy that you think about any deals or purchases for 24 hours, over a cup of coffee. The most important thing is that you don't make any decisions on the spot. Even if it is the greatest deal in the world. If you are required to sign a contract or policy, ask for a copy of the contract or policy to take home and read it. Don't read it on the spot!
Practice going into places or calling places to received information. For example if you are thinking about buying a new car, before you go into a car dealership, try going into a truck dealership and talk to them, and learn how to handle the salespeople. This way when you are ready to buy you will be prepared for how to handle the salesperson.
Write down on a piece of paper exactly all the questions that you have? Write down the answers to each question. This way you will have be able to remember exactly what the answers are.
Use the following excuses why you can't sign or buy at the moment:
- I have to ask my (parents, child, boss, friends etc)
- I never buy on the spot (which is a good policy to make for your self)
- I have a few things I have to check before I buy.
- I am not ready to buy I am only gathering information.
Excuse me I have to make a call, I be right back. (Go out of the store and think about it).
Can I have your name or card so I can get back to you latter?
- Try to go with another person, it is always better to go with someone else then to go alone.
- Before you even start to talk to a salesman, decided how many store or estimates you plan to get before you buy.
- Always be on guard for the "catch", and remmber the old saying" if it sounds/seems to good to be true, it probuley is". Real deals will be around for more then 10 mintues.
